What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Minier Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines. For purposes of Minier Christian Church's faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our elders are the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.

We believe, as hard as it is to grasp for many people, that God is one being in three persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:19; Acts 2:38-39; and 2 Cor. 13:14), co-existing in perfect community and harmony.

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible (Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24-28; Hebrews 11:3).

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, our one and only Savior(John 1:14; John 3:16). Who was born Jesus of Nazareth, both fully human and fully divine, conceived of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary (Philippians 2:8; Colossians 2:9; Matthew 1:18-25). Who suffered and was crucified under Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:1-46). Who died and was buried, and Who rose again in bodily form from the dead on the third day (Luke 23:44 – 24:8). Who ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father (Luke 22:69; Acts 1:1-9). Who will return to earth to judge both the living and the dead (Matthew 24:36-42; John 14:1-6; 1 Peter 4:5).

We believe the Holy Spirit is the active presence of God in the world, always seeking to glorify Jesus (John 16:13-15). He lives individually within those who believe in Jesus, and corporately in the Church (1 Cor. 6:19 & 3:16-17). He convicts people of sin, righteousness, and judgment to come (John 16:5-15). He is our Comforter, Guide, Teacher, Helper, the One who gives us spiritual gifts for service and changes us into the likeness of Jesus, and who marks us for the day of salvation (Jn. 14:15-17; 15:25-26; Acts 1:8; Rom. 8:1ff; 1 Cor. 12:1-11; Eph 1:13-14; and 2 Cor. 3:18).

Human beings were created by God to walk in fellowship with Him. However, all (except Jesus) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23) and must rely on God’s grace and forgiveness. Every human from the moment of conception is in the image of God, a person to be nurtured, protected, and developed. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Ps 139).

We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth. It exists to communicate the good news of new life in Jesus Christ to the world, to teach his followers to obey his teachings, and to equip his followers for ministry. The church is made up of those who have placed their faith in Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:27; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:10; Ephesians 4:11-14; Acts 2:38)

We believe the Bible teaches that salvation—the forgiveness of sins—is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible teaches that one receives this gift of salvation by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Christ and being immersed into Christ (Acts 2:38). We believe the Bible, the Old and New Testament Scriptures, is the uniquely inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:14-17 and 2 Pet. 1:15-21). We seek unity in matters of faith, freedom in matters of opinion, and love in everything (Jn. 13:34-35). It is through Scripture that we know God’s will and Christ’s authority. The Bible accomplishes all that God intends for it to accomplish (Isa. 55:10-11; Jer. 20:9; and Heb. 4:12). We believe that Scripture, in its entirety, originated with God and that it was given through men chosen by God. At the same time, Scripture speaks with the authority of God and reflects the backgrounds, styles and vocabularies of human authors. We believe that the Scriptures in their original writings are without error, perfectly trustworthy and unquestionably true. They are unique, full of final authority on all matters of faith and how we live and interpret the events of our daily lives.
