Series: Walking in Wisdom
Sermon: Wisdom for Moms - Proverbs 31:10-13, 20-21, 25-31 (10.7.25)
Watch the messages HERE.
Proverbs 31:10–31 gives us a portrait of the "virtuous woman" (sometimes called the "Proverbs 31 woman"). It’s written as an acrostic poem, with each verse beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Rather than describing a single day's to-do list, it paints a picture of her character, priorities, and impact.
Here’s what she does according to the passage:
In her relationships, she is…
In her work and diligence, she is…
In her character, she is…
In her care for others, she is…
In her spiritual life, she is…
So, a Proverbs 31 woman is not just a domestic worker, businesswoman, or mother—it’s a holistic description of a woman whose character, wisdom, and reverence for God overflow into every area of life.
Here’s how I put it on Sunday: A godly mother’s fear of the Lord overflows in faithful love and fruitful labor.
May this be true of us all!
TO KNOW GOD AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN!

In her relationships, she is…
- Trustworthy: Her husband safely trusts her (v. 11).
- Supportive: She brings him good, not harm, all her life (v. 12).
- Honored: Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband praises her (v. 28).
In her work and diligence, she is…
- Industrious: She works willingly with her hands (v. 13).
- Entrepreneurial: She considers a field and buys it; she plants a vineyard (v. 16).
- Skilled: She makes clothing and linens and sells them (v. 24).
- Hardworking: She rises while it’s still night, provides food, and manages her household well (v. 15, 27).
In her character, she is…
- Strong: She girds herself with strength (v. 17).
- Wise: She opens her mouth with wisdom (v. 26).
- Kind: The teaching of kindness is on her tongue (v. 26).
- Fearless: She laughs at the days to come, not anxious about the future (v. 25).
In her care for others, she is…
- Compassionate: She stretches out her hand to the poor and needy (v. 20).
- Nurturing: She clothes her household so they are safe and warm (v. 21).
In her spiritual life, she is…
- God-fearing: Above all, her excellence comes from her fear of the Lord (v. 30).
