Sermon: Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz (7.27.25)
Watch the messages HERE.
The story of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz is a powerful reminder that God redeems those who trust him, even in seasons of loss and uncertainty. Naomi’s life seemed shattered—she lost her husband and two sons in Moab, leaving her with nothing but grief and bitterness. Yet, God’s plan was already unfolding through Ruth, her Moabite daughter-in-law, whose loyalty and faith shone brightly: “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God” (Ruth 1:16).
Ruth’s decision to follow Naomi’s God led her to Bethlehem, where she humbly gleaned in the fields to provide for them both. There, she met Boaz—a man of integrity and kindness who became their guardian-redeemer. Through Boaz’s redemption of Ruth, God restored Naomi’s hope, Ruth’s future, and ultimately brought forth a lineage leading to King David and, generations later, Jesus Christ—the Redeemer of all.
This story teaches us that our faithful God sees the faithfulness of his children, even in their trials. Naomi thought the Lord had abandoned her, but he was orchestrating a greater redemption story than she could imagine. Ruth’s steadfast faith and Boaz’s obedient heart were the very instruments God used to bring restoration and blessing.
No matter how broken our circumstances may appear, God is able to redeem our lives when we trust him. He brings beauty from ashes, turns mourning into joy, and writes a story of hope through those who remain faithful.
Prayer:
Lord, help me trust your redeeming power even when I cannot see the full picture. Strengthen my faith to follow you like Ruth and act with integrity like Boaz. Redeem my life for your glory. Amen.
